Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher was today appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Australia. For the last three years, he has served as nuncio to the Central American nation of Guatemala.

Born in Liverpool in 1954, he was educated at St. Francis Xavier’s College in Woolton. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1977 for the Archdiocese of Liverpool and he joined the diplomatic service in 1984.
