Pope Francis puts hope at centre of Jubilee

Pope Francis has read the Bull of Indiction for the Ordinary Jubilee of 2025 – effectively starting the countdown to the Holy Year.

The Jubilee is set to bring millions of pilgrims to Rome and will involve events and activities around Australia.

The full Vatican document can be read here:

The Jubilee occurs every 25 years, the first having been set in train by Pope Boniface in 1300.

The last ordinary Holy Year was held in 2000 under Pope John Paul II.  Pope Francis called an extraordinary Holy Year in 2016.
