The latest edition of The Official Directory of the Catholic Church in Australia will be released in July, continuing a tradition that has supported the life and mission of the Church since 1841.
The Official Directory is the definitive national reference point for Catholic dioceses, parishes, clergy, religious institutes, schools and agencies across Australia.
The 2026-27 edition carries forward that legacy, offering a comprehensive and up-to-date snapshot of the Church today.
Published by the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference, The Official Directory remains an essential working resource for clergy, Church administrators, educators and anyone seeking reliable information about the Church’s presence and activity across the country.
“The Official Directory is more than a reference work; it is a practical resource that supports the Church’s mission by helping leaders and administrators stay connected, informed and coordinated,” bishop-delegate for media Archbishop Patrick O’Regan said.
“I warmly commend it to bishops, clergy, pastoral leaders and all those entrusted with the day-to-day stewardship of the Church’s life and ministry.”
The 2026-27 edition will be supplemented by an increasingly important digital platform, available at directory.catholic.au, providing users with searchable, regularly updated information that can be accessed anytime and anywhere.
The combination of print and digital formats reflects the evolving needs of the Church in Australia, balancing the familiarity of a trusted annual publication with the immediacy and flexibility of an online resource.
The Official Directory includes detailed listings of dioceses and parishes, clergy, Catholic education and health institutions and national organisations, making it an invaluable tool for collaboration and communication.
As the Church continues its mission in a rapidly changing environment, The Official Directory remains a practical expression of unity and connection across Australia’s Catholic community.
Pre-orders are open ahead of the July release.
